Anne Burrell, a Food Network star with her trademark long, blonde hair with a exuberant personality, shares easy methods to master and removes the fear of eating at restaurants in her series Secrets of a Restaurant. Chef Burrell is also a part of many of the best eateries in New York, studied the cuisine and culture of Italy as well as competed on the Food Network's Iron Chef America. As a youngster, growing up in the upstate area of New York, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. The Culinary Institute of America was the next stage for her following her graduation with an Associate of Arts degree in English and Communications at Canisius College Buffalo NY. The student says "I enjoyed being a Culinary Institute of America (CIA) student. I was awed by every moment." Culinary Institute of America was an excellent opportunity to pursue a degree. After graduating, Burrell spent one year in Italy studying in the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners and worked in Umbria's La Taverna del Lupo as in Tuscany's La Bottega del 30, a Michelin-starred restaurant. In Italy, Chef Burrell developed an appreciation for and knowledge of Italian culinary traditions. This had an enormous impact on how she views food. Burrell is a well-known ambassador to the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation and is a member of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board, which helps kids with disabilities. In her capacity as a guest speaker and mentor, she travels around the United States to discuss her culinary passion and career. Anne said she felt lucky in that she could be able to share her passion for cooking with the people around her.
